Lori Kajutis, MLT

Lori was born and raised here in Thunder Bay. She received her Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma from the Thunder Bay Institute of Medical Technology in 1990. Lori joined our team in 2005 and performs our live blood analysis, urinalysis and blood grouping. Using a fresh drop of blood from the finger, Lori uses a darkfield microscope to examine the blood while it is alive. This makes it possible to see all the living components of the blood clearly, that would normally be destroyed by staining in conventional lab tests. A video camera and monitor are set up so that the patient can view the whole process. The examination of live blood is valuable for the early detection of serious health conditions.
